A Commitment to Our Communities

Our mission to improve lives through better vision extends well beyond our clinic walls. That is most apparent through our partnership with Vision Health International (VHI), as well as our sponsorship of various Grand Valley nonprofit organizations and volunteer work with organizations like Eureka Math and Science Center.

Drs. Rottman, Ford and the entire team at Rottman Eye Care know the importance of giving back to the community they call home and serving communities across the globe.

Vision Health International

VHI was founded in 1985 to serve communities by providing vision care including comprehensive eye exams, surgical care, prosthetic eyes, and corrective and protective eyewear. At its founding, VHI focused heavily on working in countries in Latin America. As they have continued to expand, VHI has impacted communities in Latin America, South America, Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America.

Dr. Rottman has been involved with Vision Health International for 33 years, including 32 years of service as a board member and 6 years serving as Board President. He is currently serving as the organization’s Medical Director. Dr. Rottman’s first trip with the VHI team was in 1990 and he has continued to participate in their work and providing the gift of sight to those in need.

The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 1.3 billion people around the globe live with some form of vision impairment, 80% of which can be prevented, corrected, or cured. Since 1985, VHI has
