Rottman Eye Care & Vision Health International Host a Free Eye Clinic

Patients received free eye exams and glasses during the clinic

Rottman Eye Care recently partnered with Vision Health International (VHI) to host a free eye clinic at the Rottman Eye Care center in Grand Junction. Team members and volunteers saw more than 200 patients in one day. In addition to free vision screenings and eye exams, patients were given free reading glasses, sunglasses, and prescription glasses. The Rottman Eye Care team enjoyed the opportunity to treat a variety of patients and ensure their eyes are cared for.

“Rottman Eye Care is improving lives through vision beyond clinic walls,” said Randy Rottman, MD, ophthalmologist, and founder of Rottman Eye Care. “We saw a need for this type of clinic in our community, and we wanted to be the organization to fill that void. It is an honor to provide eye care to the underserved community here in Grand Junction.”

Rottman Eye Care has been a cornerstone of the Grand Junction ophthalmic community since 2007. Its mission is to improve peoples’ lives through better vision and outstanding patient experiences. This is the second time Rottman Eye Care has partnered with VHI to host a free eye clinic in Grand Junction. Additionally, VHI has worked with eye clinics in other locations such as Colorado, Florida and Connecticut.

“I will never forget the first time that I volunteered at this eye clinic,” said Shane Spehar, ophthalmic technician supervisor at Rottman Eye Care. “I had the opportunity to deliver a patient his first set of glasses when he could not afford them before. I will always remember his face lighting up saying, “so this is what it is like to see.” From that point on, I knew I wanted to help my community by giving them the gift of sight.”
